Endeavour Mining (EDV) has sacked chief executive Sebastien de Montessus over “gross misconduct” and has alleged he made "an irregular payment instruction" of $5.9mn (£4.65mn) linked to a mine sale.

The company, London’s largest by gold output, operates in West Africa and has sold off various mines in the past year. De Montessus has denied misconduct and said he was only given 48 hours to respond to the allegations.
